President Trump in Talks with Russia and Ukraine to End “Very Bloody War” – Possible Meeting with Putin in Saudi Arabia

On Thursday, President Donald Trump suggested that the brutal and devastating war between Russia and Ukraine could be nearing its conclusion.

After a series of talks with both sides, he shared his optimism in a post on Truth Social.

“Great talks with Russia and Ukraine yesterday,” the President, wrote, expressing a hopeful outlook. “Good possibility of ending that horrible, very bloody war!!!”

The President’s comments followed a significant development from the previous day, in which Russia released Marc Fogel, an American teacher who had been detained in Russia for bringing medical marijuana into the country in 2021. Fogel returned to the U.S. on Wednesday, and was welcomed by President Trump, who thanked Putin for his release in a Truth Social post.

On the day of Fogel’s release, the President’s Truth Social account focused on ending the Ukraine War, revealing details of his conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The President shared that Vladimir Putin had agreed to begin discussions immediately in an effort to bring an end to the conflict – Europe’s largest and most deadly land war since World War II.  Trump also noted that he and Putin were likely to meet in Saudi Arabia, a neutral location, for further talks.

“We expect that he’ll come here, and I’ll go there,” the President said during a conversation with reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “We’re going to meet also, probably in Saudi Arabia.”

In a follow-up post President Trump also wrote of a discussion with Zelenskyy, stating that “the conversation went very well.” The statement went on to reveal plans for a meeting between Zelensky and Vice President JD Vance, as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio – scheduled for Friday, February 14th, in Munich.

“It is time to stop this ridiculous War,” he wrote, “where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, death and destruction. God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine!”

Ukrainian President Zelensky responded positively to President Trump’s initiatives, confirming that the two leaders held a “meaningful conversation” about the path forward. “No one wants peace more than Ukraine,” Zelensky said in his own statement on X. “Together with the US, we are charting our next steps to stop Russian aggression and ensure a lasting, reliable peace.” Zelensky echoed Trump’s sentiment, adding, “As President Trump said, let’s get it done,” signaling a shared determination to bring an end to the conflict and work toward a more stable future for Ukraine, for Russia, and for the world.
